When I created these pieces, I kept returning to a line from Talib Kweli:

“The day is measured by the sun, but the sun was made on the 4th day - such mysterious ways. Without the sun, man, they must’ve been some serious days.”

That lyric stayed with me. It made me think about what comes before clarity, before light. The idea of angels, especially the seraphim, entered my mind not as literal figures but as metaphors for moral transformation.

This work isn’t just about a single figure. It’s about the erosion of purity. It questions whether morality is something we’re born with, or something shaped and worn down by experience. I see good and evil not as absolutes but as fluid states, constantly in tension.

Shame, religion, and my own faith circle in this painting. “The 4th Day” is about the hidden battles we carry before anything is ever illuminated. Those serious days - before the light - might be where we find our truest selves.
